When I started school at the Centura College Chesapeake Campus, I came in with the enthusiasm of knowing that I was going to further my education while gaining hands on training to enhance my skills at my job, which is hospice care. Although, I had the personal skills needed to work in hospice, I wanted to be able to embrace the total patient care aspect and needed to have the education to do so.

My teachers were always available and willing to sit and talk with me whether I was having trouble in class or just had a patient on my mind. Once I finished school, I became more confident in performing different work assignments and that became apparent to my co-workers and supervisors and sometimes even my patients would comment on my technique and knowledge.

Medical Assisting careers can open the doors to working alongside doctors and nurses in many health care settings. Some people focus their training on the clinical side of the business, so that they can have a more direct hands-on approach with patients.
