The 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools is posted and Centura College made the list!  Making the list of Military Friendly schools is an important achievement that we are very proud of.  It confirms that Centura College works hard to make sure our active duty and veteran students feel at home on campus and that they have a host of services available to them through a full time, dedicated Veteran and Active Duty Student Representative staff member.

The list of military friendly schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 10,000, VA Approved Schools throughout the United States.  The survey results were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP and based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.  Each year, schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across the country.

This year’s Military Friendly Schools® list criteria also incorporated a survey of over 4,000 actual student veterans. This feedback provides prospective military students with insight into the student veteran experience at particular institutions based on peer reviews from current students.  You can read more about the methodology behind the school selection process by visiting the Methodology page of the www.militaryfriendly.com website.

The Graded Criteria…

In order to be considered a military friendly school, each candidate school is graded based on complied and weighted data using the following categories to determine a final score:

24% Military Support on Campus

20% Academic Credibility

10% Percent of Military Students

10% Academic Credit for Military Service

10% Flexibility for Military Students

5% Veteran Graduation Rates

5% Student Tuition Assistance

5% Student Survey

5% Employment Rates

5% Military Spouse Policies

1% Government Approvals
