Centura College Practical Nursing Student Gives Back to The Community – Norfolk, Virginia

Ms. Brenda Warren, Practical Nursing program student at Centura College, became a member of the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps (VAMRC) in February and has completed her orientation training. After a field trip to the Norfolk Public Health Department, Warren became interested in this organization and felt the desire to give back to her community and to those in need when a disaster or emergency arises. The VAMRC utilizes volunteers to support local public health initiatives, such as, flu vaccination programs, response for local emergencies, health screenings and disasters.

Warren is preparing for local community service and after completing all of her training will be ready to serve for state and, if needed, national emergencies. Warren’s first certificate is displayed to give other students incentive to seek other avenues where their skills and time can be used within their own communities. Warren will be completing her nursing program in September, however, she will continue with her training in the volunteer corps.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, she will become a valuable asset for the Medical Reserve Corps.
