Wind Turbine Technician Open House at Centura Norfolk
Centura College is celebrating the rollout of their Wind Turbine Technician program by hosting the public at the campus for a week-long Open House.
The Open House will be complete with VIP tours of the wind turbine lab and wind turbine equipment demos by industry-experienced instructors. The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. throughout the week of February 1st – 5th. Centura College’s Norfolk campus is located at 7020 N Military Hwy, Norfolk, VA 23518. The event is free and open to the public. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks will be required, social distancing will be enforced, and temperature screenings may be conducted.

We are grateful for the opportunity we’ve had to bring this programming to the students in our community. Through the Mid-Atlantic Wind Training Alliance, we will fill a gap in both training and career growth in our area.”
With projected growth of wind electricity generation within the next 10 years, there is a high demand for wind turbine service technicians. In fact, the employment of wind turbine technicians is forecast to increase by 61% from 2019 to 2029. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wind Turbine Service Technicians make a mean salary of $56,700 a year. Centura College’s Wind Turbine Technician program provides students with the technical skills to install, maintain, and repair wind turbines. Upon graduation, students possess the knowledge and skills to qualify for entry-level employment as a Wind Turbine Technician.
