Benefits of Esthetics as a Career and Dual Programming
Whether you want to specialize in intricate procedures or establish a solid footing on your career path, Centura College’s dual esthetician program approach ensures that aspiring estheticians have the opportunity to receive the education best suited to those goals and aspirations. Students who complete the Professional Esthetician program are then able to enroll in the Master Esthetician program. After the completion of this program, students will have the opportunity to take the practical and theory exams for Master Estheticians with the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
Master the Art of Beauty: Hands-On Learning for Success
As an esthetician student at Centura College, you’ll learn about different skin types, conditions, and disorders, and how to provide appropriate treatments for each. The program also includes practical training in procedures like:
- Body wraps
- Masks
- Scrubs
- Aromatherapy
- Make-up applications
- Hair removal techniques
Additionally, students gain hands-on experience with manual and machine facials, including cleansing and exfoliation, as well as complete eyelash care.
Your Glowing Path to the Future: Career Opportunities Await
Upon completion of the Esthetician diploma program, students can work in a variety of career settings including spas, salons, or wellness centers and dermatology offices. The demand for skin care specialists is expected to grow 9% between 2022 and 2032 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, this equates to approximately 12,400 openings that are projected each year. A Professional Esthetician and a Master Esthetician both have a range of job opportunities available to them within the beauty and skincare industry. The key difference lies in the depth of their knowledge and the scope of treatments they are qualified to perform.
