Entrance Counseling for Student Borrowers
All students applying for student loan funds must attend a series of sessions designed to ensure that the student understands his/her rights and responsibilities under the loan programs. Before any disbursement of loan funds is paid, you must complete entrance counseling at the Department of Education’s loan website. Each academic year thereafter (every 30 weeks), you must attend an in-school (not online) loan counseling session before disbursement will be made for that year. This is a good time to ask any questions you might have and to review the personal finance and money management sites accessible from the student portal. You will need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) assigned to you by the Department of Education. If you do not have a PIN, please visit https://studentaid.gov/ to apply.
Exit Counseling
Each loan recipient must attend exit counseling at the NSLDS website. All students must attend a series of sessions designed to ensure that the student understands his/her rights and responsibilities under the loan programs. Before you leave school, you must complete exit counseling at the Department of Education’s loan website. This is a good time to ask any questions you might have and to review the personal finance and money management sites accessible from the student portal. The Office of Disability Services (ODS), part of the Department of Student Affairs, works with all campuses of the College to guarantee that the programs and technologies of the College are accessible to every student within the College communities. Protected Classes – Know Your Rights
As a student at an institution which receives federal loan monies, you have some specific rights in addition to the ones you always have as a citizen or resident. Specifically, you have the right to be free from discrimination by the College based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, and disability. Discrimination in this context can mean a general environment that is hostile toward the group to which you belong or it can mean a specific treatment of you that is different from normal policy and that cannot be proved necessary for safety or for academic integrity. Using harassment as an example, a student may experience low-level harassment from multiple staff members or acute harassment from one person. In either case the student has a legitimate civil rights complaint. In all cases, you have the right to be free from retaliation by the College if you file a complaint.
Race, Color, and National Origin
No staff member, faculty member, student, alumnus, or visitor may discriminate against you because of your race, your color, or your national origin. This is guaranteed by Title VI (6) of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (34 CFR 100). You are protected from discrimination during the time that you apply to higher education institutions, during the time that you are an active student, and during your interactions with the College as an alumnus.
Sex
No staff member, faculty member, student, alumnus, or visitor may discriminate against you because of your sex. This is guaranteed by Title IX (9) of the Education Amendments of 1972 (34 CFR Part 106). You are protected from discrimination during the time that you apply to higher education institutions, during the time that you are an active student, and during your interactions with the College as an alumnus.

Retention Rates
Staff members at higher education institutions which accept Title IV Federal Financial Aid must report student outcomes, such as retention rates, to the federal government. View the College Navigator website below to see these outcomes for your school. The fastest way to access your school’s information is to type the name of your school in the Name of School search box. When you run the search you can select your specific campus from the list that will open on the right. Once you are viewing the page for your campus, you will see that one of the expandable menu items is Retention and Graduation Rates. Expanding this item will show you the rates that were most recently reported.
